Heart Center
From our chest pain center and cardiac catheterization laboratory to our open-heart surgical suites, CCU and CVICU, Jackson Hospital is well-equipped to handle all matters of the heart.
We have three cardiac catheterization labs. These labs are equipped with Philips flat-panel cardiac systems capable of completing diagnostic, interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures without surgery. The system allows more data to be collected during each procedure and provides staff with instant access to a patient's history.
The Heart Center also boasts a 6 bed pre- and post-procedure unit and a separate waiting room for heart patients.
Another area of focus is emergency intervention to prevent or reduce harm from heart attacks. Jackson Hospital is well-equipped to rapidly diagnose and treat cardiac emergencies, including 24-hour availability of cardiac stent placement and cardiac surgery if needed.
Health Risk Assessment
A Health Risk Assessment (HRA) is an online questionnaire tool used to identify risk factors for certain illnesses or disease based on your unique health history. An HRA can be used to take proactive steps in bettering your health, such as making lifestyle changes or seeing your healthcare provider for next steps in your care. Take our free Heart HRA by clicking here to find out your risk for heart disease!
Procedures
Protection against stroke. Protection against bleeds. WATCHMAN is the one-time, minimally invasive procedure that protects patients who can't remain on blood thinners.
WATCHMAN is a one-time, minimally invasive procedure for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem (also known as non-valvuar AFib) who need an alternative to blood thinners.
Non-valvular Afib can mean a lifetime of blood thinners. It can also mean a lifetime of worry about issues like bleeds and falls. More than 150,000 people have left blood thinners behind with WATCHMAN.
The WATCHMAN procedure offers many advantages, including:
• Minimally invasive
• Permanent implant
• Typical procedures less than 1 hour
• 24 hour average hospital stay
For more information, visit the WATCHMAN website.
The TAVR procedure is a minimal invasive procedure compared to surgical open heart valve replacement (SAVR). The cardiologist will insert a catheter into the leg and guide it into the heart across the existing aortic valve. A balloon is used to dilate over the old valve and the new artificial valve is crossed over the existing wire and catheter. The artificial valve is fitted over the existing old diseased valve. This procedure is an option for patients who are at risk for surgical procedures such as open-heart valve replacement.
