Jackson Hospital women’s and children’s services, including the Mom & Baby Center, is hosting an open house on Sunday, May 17th, from 1-3pm so prospective parents and the community can see first-hand the warm and comforting environment that has been created. The open house will include refreshments, tours, information on classes and services, and an opportunity to meet and greet the staff.
“Women and children are extra special at Jackson Hospital, and our new mothers and babies can expect family-centered care at the cornerstone of obstetrics,” said Agatha King, director of women’s and children’s services at Jackson Hospital. “We’ve made a host of improvements over the past 18 months to ensure all of our new guests are cared for in a safe and homelike environment.”
The latest addition to the Mom & Baby Center includes three new grand suites and two new regular suites – each with state-of-the-art fetal monitoring equipment, a wall-mounted flat screen TV with DVD and VCR players, a sleeper sofa, two comfortable upholstered chairs, spacious handicap accessible bathrooms, hardwood floors, and a new warm décor. The Center now houses a total of 15 labor and delivery rooms along with 18 over-sized private post-partum rooms.
The birthing suites are complemented by a large level two special care nursery equipped with some of the latest technology to enable us to care for both well and sick newborns. To top it all off, a series of educational sessions on the birthing experience, prenatal care, sibling and grandparent relationships, and breastfeeding are available to all mothers planning to deliver at Jackson Hospital.
Women’s and children’s services at Jackson Hospital is completed with an additional 12 rooms dedicated to caring for women having gynecologic surgery and for pediatric patients.
