Jackson Hospital welcomes New Physicians

Montgomery, AL- Four new physicians recently joined the Jackson Hospital staff in the fields of endocrinology, orthopedics, urology and vascular surgery.

“We are excited to have these outstanding physicians join our medical team,” said CEO Don Henderson. “The doctors are highly skilled in their specialties, and will be a great asset to the River Region community and to Jackson Hospital.”

Basil O. Burney, MD, completed his fellowship in endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also performed a fellowship in clinical hypertension at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He has conducted several extensive research studies at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis and Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. His specialties include the management of diabetes, thyroid and metabolic disorders.

Brian Richardson, MD, studied at Samford University in Birmingham, and completed his residency at Tulane University Health Sciences Center. He also completed a general surgery internship training at the University of Florida at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Richardson is skilled in minimally invasive robotic surgical procedures using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System. He holds many accolades, including chief resident (urology) while at Tulane, and was a National Urology Residency Preceptorship nominee for both male and female reconstructive urology in 2008 and 2009. He also received the Sexual Medicine Society North America Research Award, and was a member of the Iota Alpha Medical Honor Society. His additional specialties include laparoscopic, percutaneous and endourologic techniques.

Hussein Turki, MD, is practicing at Alabama Orthopedic Specialists. He received his degree from Emory University School of Medicine, and upon graduation studied orthopedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Turki completed his fellowship in hand and upper body extremities at the University of Chicago. He was in the Beta Chapter of Phi Sigma National Honor Society, the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa while at Emory.

Vladimir Zahradnik, MD, completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at the Cleveland Foundation, and performed his general surgery residency in Birmingham at the Carraway Methodist Medical Center and Baptist Health System, where he was chief resident. He has received many notable awards, including the Hugh Linder Award for Professional Excellence and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress, Carraway Surgical Society, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). His specialties include the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease through the minimally invasive and endovascular techniques.
