Jackson Hospital is pleased to announce the combined groundbreaking ceremony on two exciting new construction projects on the Jackson Hospital campus. The groundbreaking will be held at 12pm, Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the intersection of Hampton Street and Park Place on the north side of the Jackson Hospital campus.
The Jackson Hospital Surgery Center is a freestanding 27,000 sq. ft. outpatient facility featuring six operating rooms and four endoscopy suites. Elective surgical procedures will include ENT, plastic, orthopedic, urologic and general surgery. Outpatient bronchoscopies, endoscopies and colonoscopies will be performed in the endoscopy suites.
“The addition of this new facility will allow the main OR in the hospital to be used primarily for patients who are having more complex surgeries,” said Chris Rosenthal, RN, MSN, director of surgical services. “We are excited about this expansion and the ability to increase our capacity to provide surgical services to the community.”
The Jackson Hospital Imaging Center will be a 13,500 sq. ft. dedicated outpatient imaging facility. The center will set a new standard in quality of care, providing comprehensive imaging services in the convenience of an outpatient setting.
The center will offer numerous benefits for both patients and referring physicians:
- Clinical excellence. Diagnostic tests will be interpreted by a team of highly trained board certified radiologists from the Radiology Group, P.A.
- Timely appointments. Outpatient imaging will be the only focus. No emergent procedures that might delay a regularly scheduled appointment.
- State-of-the-art equipment. The center will offer the latest in MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray and digital mammography. All this will take place in a filmless and paperless environment.
“We are very excited to be breaking ground on these two important new projects,” said Don Henderson, Jackson Hospital president and CEO. “The new surgery and imaging centers will offer new levels of technology, comfort and convenience for our patients here at Jackson.”
Project architects are Birchfield Penuel and Associates, LLC, Birmingham, Ala. Brasfield & Gorrie also of Birmingham, Ala will provide general contracting for the new structures. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late 2008.
