Anita Yeargan, RN, was recently awarded the Pam Wolfe Award. Anita has been a nurse for 23 years, and she has spent her entire career at Jackson Hospital. Working in various areas including Telemetry and Clinical Resource Management, Anita established the Readmissions Reduction Program as the Readmissions Coordinator. She now calls the CVICU home, where she serves at the Assistant Director. Nursing leaders were recently challenged to find their why and remember why they became nurses. For Anita, this wasn't hard at all.

"I have always wanted to make a difference, and as nurses we are fortunate to be able to make a difference every day. That patient whom no one believed would live, but comes back to visit; the family that stops you in the grocery store because they realize that you are “that nurse;” the family who recognizes your unit for care and compassion in their family member’s obituary. Those are the reasons that nursing is the most amazing profession and why I can’t imagine doing anything else. "

The Pam Wolfe award is a service award dedicated to the memory of Pam Wolfe, RN, who served as nurse manager on the surgical floor of Baptist East hospital. She was recognized by her peers and faculty for her leadership, beauty and devotion to nursing. Pam exemplified true leadership, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and devotion to her patients.

The annual award ceremony is sponsored by the Medical Society of Montgomery County.
