Annual Sports Physicals Prep Athletes for Action

Hospital news | Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Jackson Hospital recently performed over 1,500 free physicals for high school athletes with the help of 11 doctors and more than 40 hospital employee volunteers. Coordinated by Charles Lee, director of Sports Medicine, this is an invaluable community service provided by Jackson Hospital that helps athletes, their families, coaches and both public and private schools. All athletes are required to pass these physicals in order to participate in athletic sports during the upcoming school year.

“This annual event is one community service that our schools have grown to love,” said Lee. “It saves schools and their students time and money. But none of this would have been possible without the help of the volunteers, along with the athletic trainers, nurses and doctors. It was a great team effort.”
