Jackson Clinic expands to new location

Extended hours, walk-in care, new technology all enhance patient convenience.

Life might be simpler if sickness struck only during business hours. But as luck would have it, sickness is not known for its convenience. Fortunately, The Jackson Clinic has a new extended-hours family medicine clinic. Located on the first floor of the Park Place Building on the campus of Jackson Hospital, the new clinic will open this spring.

Three family medicine physicians—William Jones, MD; Stewart Hill Tankersley, MD; and Dongjin Yoon, MD—will be relocating from The Jackson Clinic building at 1801 Pine St. to a beautiful, new, technologically advanced office. This new location allows The Jackson Clinic to offer for the first time walk-in, extended-hours care.

“We recognize that people’s healthcare needs extend beyond normal business hours, and our new family medicine office will allow our community access to a Jackson Clinic physician in an urgent care setting,” said Michael Ritzus, Jackson Clinic administrator. “Now you won’t need to be an existing Jackson Clinic patient to get great care.”

The new clinic offers the best of both worlds: Patients have the convenience of seeking urgent medical care when they need it, and they can make appointments for follow-up care and help with managing chronic illness. Plus, with its location right on the hospital campus, patients have access to all the resources of Jackson Hospital and the Jackson Imaging Center.

New technology, faster service

Doctors and staff at The Jackson Clinic have been using electronic health records (EHRs) for several years to better manage their patients’ health. But with the new clinic, they’re taking EHRs to another level.

“We’re expanding our electronic health record by introducing a web-based patient portal called Next MD,” Ritzus said. “Patients can use this portal to make common requests from the comfort of their homes 24 hours a day.”

Through the secure, encrypted Next MD web portal, patients  will be able to register online, complete their medical history, request medication refills and schedule appointments.

This new office is the latest addition to the expanding network of Jackson Clinic physicians, among whom are doctors specializing in family and internal medicine, surgery, and urology.
