Bringing new meds to the market

Jackson Hospital is working to provide safer and more effective medications.

Through clinical trials, Jackson Hospital is playing a major role in bringing new drugs to the market that are safer and more effective than some current medications. Drug Research and Analysis Corporation is spearheading these trials with the assistance of Jackson Hospital medical staff.

“The most exciting part about these trials is that we are able to provide new drug products to Jackson patients several years before they are available to the public,” said Don Henderson, president and CEO.

Glenn Bedsole, MD, has been involved in clinical trials at Jackson Hospital for 20 years and believes it is a very positive opportunity for the community. “Careful testing of new medications and devices, as well as new uses for established ones, is vitally important for improving patient care and safety,” he said.

All patients who are admitted to a research trial must read and sign an informed consent statement that has been approved by the Jackson Hospital Institutional Review Board.
