Basic Life Support (BLS)
This class is to certify healthcare professionals in CPR/basic life support. The BLS provider’s course prepares healthcare professionals to recognize several life-threatening emergencies and to provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course includes adult, child, and infant rescue skills in both in and out of the hospital settings. At the completion of this class, you will receive a certification that is valid for two years. There are no pre-course requirements for this class.
For Jackson Hospital Employees: The course is free if you attend or cancel your registration within 24 hours of the scheduled class. Payroll deduction will be utilized for fee assessment for those who register for a class, fail to attend and do not cancel according to the Education Cancellation Guideline or meet the criteria in guidelines Human Resources Employee Attendance, Absenteeism and Tardiness Guideline. When appropriate cancellation does not occur, the course contact person will notify the Financial Services Department of the employee’s name and the amount of payroll deduction. For American Heart Association BLS and Heartsaver classes, the payroll deduction is $25 per class not attended. All staff members must register for the course in E-learning.
For Non-Jackson Hospital Employees: The cost of the course is $35 paid for by cash or check. BLS provider manuals are available for purchase. The cost of the BLS Provider Manual is $15.
