Wound Care Center
For most patients, wound healing is relatively quick and simple process. But for some, problem wounds can lead to a severely compromised quality of life and sometimes even the loss of a limb. Wounds that resist healing for longer than three weeks should be considered for referral to a comprehensive wound treatment center.
The mission of the Jackson Wound Care Center is to combine state-of-the-art wound care treatment with physical therapy, exercise, nutrition and diabetic counseling. This comprehensive approach treats not only a non-healing wound but also underlying diseases or conditions. Our program is completely devoted to healing problem wounds, and helping our patients reclaim their quality of life.
We are also excited to offer the latest in wound care technology—three new Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a procedure in which a patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while relaxing in a pressurized chamber. This delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the blood stream and the wound bed, which rapidly accelerates the healing process.
The center treats a variety of problem wounds including diabetic ulcers, abscesses, decubitus ulcers, pressure sores, traumatic wounds, skin tears, surgical wounds, burns, spider bites and wounds caused by peripheral vascular disease, venous insufficiency, and thrombosis.
The Jackson Wound Care Center is under the medical supervision of Dr. Scott Faulkner, a graduate of Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Dr. Faulkner, a well-known thoracic surgeon and wound care specialist, has been with Jackson Hospital for more than 27 years. The facility is also staffed by trained and certified physical therapists who specialize in state-of-the-art wound care.
The center welcomes new patients, either by appointment or walk-in. The center gladly accepts all patients and works closely with primary care physicians, home health agencies and nursing homes to create a team approach to care. Hours of operation are 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We offer new patient appointments within 24 to 48 hours of your call.
