Physician Portal
Browser Set-Up and Compatibility
NOTE: These instructions are written for a typical Windows XP SP2 system running Internet Explorer 7. If you have a different system then the instructions may vary.
Step 1—System Requirements for using the Portal.
- Hardware Settings
- Processor: minimum 1 GHz.
- Memory: minimum 256 MB RAM / recommended 1 GB RAM.
- Monitor: minimum 1024 x 768 Resolution.
- Disk space: minimum 2 GB of free disk space.
- Internet Connection
- Dial-Up is not supported.
- DSL & Cable Only.
- Operating System
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4.
- Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or 2.
- Microsoft Windows Vista is not fully supported. The base system will function, but the radiology and cardiology modules will not.
- Mac OS is not supported.
- Third party software
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.
- Java™ SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 6. Do not download any newer version.
Step 2—Disable your pop up blocker
Step 3—How to enable ActiveX controls
To enable the ability for ActiveX controls to be installed on your PC we will need to take the following steps:
- Go to the Menu bar and click Tools, then Internet Options.
- Select the Security Tab, then Click on the Trusted Sites Icon.
- Click on the Sites Button.
- Uncheck the box "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone".
- In the "Add the Web site to the zone" Text box type the following 2 entries:
jackson.org click Add
jacksonhospital.net click Add
- Once the above entries are entered click the OK button in the bottom of the window.
- Click OK once more to close the Internet Settings window.
Step 4—Install Sun Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 6
Click on the link below to install the Java Runtime Environment.
IMPORTANT: This may require you to reboot your PC.

After Clicking on the link above follow the directions below:
(This is a one-time installation per computer).
1. A Pop up will appear asking you what you would like to do. Select Run.
2. A Security Warning will appear. Select Run.
3. The license agreement will appear. Select Accept.
4. The Wizard will run for a few seconds, installing the necessary files to use the portal. Once the wizard has completed installing the files click Finish.
Step 5—Install MI View – Windows XP only
Click here to install the MI View upgrade 1.
Click here to install the MI View upgrade 2.
After Clicking on the link above follow the directions below:
(This is a one-time installation per computer).
1. A Pop up will appear asking you what you would like to do. Select Run.
2. A Security Warning will appear. Select Run.
3. The InstallShield Wizard will appear. Select Next.
4. The Wizard will run for a few seconds, installing the necessary files to use the portal. Once the wizard has completed installing the files it will close automatically.
The script is complete and will not have to be run again on the PC.
Once the above steps have been completed you will be ready to navigate to the Jackson Hospital Physician Portal.
Step 6- Jackson Hospital JOE/ Physician Portal Connector

Save file to desktop, unzip the file and install from there.

After Clicking on the link above follow the directions below:
(This is a one-time installation per computer)
1. The Setup connector 1.0 setup wizard up will appear. Select Next.
2. Connector 1.0 setup will appear. Select Install
3. Installation of Connector 1.0 will run (can take up to 5-10 minutes). Select Next
4. Completing the Connector 1.0 setup Wizard will appear. Select Finish
5. Double click on Connector icon on Desktop
6. Click options on Jackson Hospital Connector and select Auto Launch Portal
7. To disconnect from Portal, locate icon (
) in bottom right of system tray and click disconnect.
The script is complete and will not have to be run again on the PC. Once the above steps have been completed you will be ready to navigate to the Jackson Hospital Physician Portal /JOE.
