AARP Driver Safety Program
This is a classroom refresher class designed to meet the needs of older drivers. Sponsored by the AARP, this eight-hour course is conducted in one day or over two days. You may qualify to receive a multi-year auto insurance discount. For more information, call 334-293-8977.
Breastfeeding Class
Breastfeeding classes and lactation support are designed to prepare the expectant mother for breastfeeding her newborn. It also includes troubleshooting common problems to establish a successful breastfeeding experience. This class is held on the first Saturday of the month, from 9 to 11am. FREE. Diabetes Classes
The Jackson Hospital Diabetes Center provides a variety of services for people with diabetes. Services include dietary consults, insulin administration, and classes that deal with day-to-day management and complications. Special comprehensive programs deal with insulin pump therapy and diabetes during pregnancy. Fees charged for services are covered by most major medical insurances. Grandparent Class
At Jackson Hospital we know that grandparents are important. This program presents new concepts in newborn care to grandparents who need a refresher course. This class is held one Tuesday every month from 6:30 to 8:30pm. FREE. For more information, call 334-293-8497.
Joint Venture Class
Before your total joint surgery at Jackson Hospital, you and a coach are required to attend a pre-surgical class. These classes are held on the First and Third Thursday of each month from 9 to 10:30am in Classroom One at Jackson Hospital. Patients should schedule a class for themselves and their coach at least four weeks prior to their surgery. For more information, call 334-293-8157.
Lamaze or Prepared Childbirth Class
This series of classes offered by Jackson Hospital focuses on preparation for birth. Topics include stages of labor, Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques, role of the coach, and care of mother and baby after delivery. Six-week sessions are taught throughout the year for a nominal fee. For your convenience in selecting the best schedule, please contact us by your fourth month of pregnancy by calling 334-293-8497.
Your Amazing Newborn
This class is taught by a pediatrician and our nursing staff. The class helps alleviate parenting jitters often experienced by soon-to-be parents. Grandparents are also welcome. FREE. For more information, call 334-293-8497.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Gastric Bypass
This session is designed to inform, educate, motivate and provide a safety net for surgical weight-loss patients, including those considering surgery, recent patients and those who are several years post-surgery. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 334-265-9888.
Potency Restored
